Bella’s Blessings is a ministry working to provide families with essentials they need during an unexpected stay in East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Here is some of their story:
“On September 22, 2021, during an MRI, it was discovered that Bella had a rare brain tumor known as a Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma (JPA). Our world was not only turned upside down by the news, we were then told that we couldn’t leave the hospital and were immediately admitted into the Intensive Care Unit at East Tennessee Children's Hospital. Less than twenty-four hours later, Bella had a craniotomy and the tumor was removed by Dr. Savage and her incredible team. To this point, it appears this type of tumor was a surgical cure and Bella has not had to undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatments, only physical and occupational therapies in addition to visiting with pediatric psychologists. She is still in recovery and that process for this type of tumor typically takes 18-24 months. She will be monitored closely with quarterly scans and appointments with her neurosurgeon.
Overall, our family has been blessed by close friends and family that have been a huge help to us along this journey. It is our prayer that Bella’s Blessings will help other families at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital that are going through similar trials.”
Pray for the hope and healing of kids (and their families) who are admitted to East TN Children’s Hospital during Christmas this year.
