Making disciples
Disciple making is the Church’s core mission. That's because it was the core mission of Jesus. Jesus' ministry was not simply about preaching to large crowds or performing miracles. At the center, He invested deeply in a few individuals who would carry forward His teachings and multiply His impact.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Make this a Rhythm in your life: Jesus’ approach for disciple making was highly relational and highly intentional. He chose twelve disciples and dedicated significant time to living with them, teaching them, and modeling a life of obedience. This close relationship allowed the disciples to observe and internalize Jesus' teachings and lifestyle.
Challenge: Being disciple makers is not a request. It is a commandment Jesus gave us! Who in your life do you need to come alongside and disciple? Who do you need to invest significant time and teaching into? If no one comes to mind, ask God to reveal those people to you. Ask Him to show you how to find those who need discipling. Maybe this looks like you starting a Bible study at your workplace or in your neighborhood to find those people who need to be discipled. A good place to start is by asking:
What intentional relationships do I currently have?
How can I leverage my relationships for the purpose of disciple-making?
How am I guiding those in my relationship circles to know and integrate the teachings of Jesus into their lives?
