For the next eight weeks, we’re taking a deep dive into the heart of prayer—learning to pray as Jesus taught. Our hope is that, like the disciples, our children would echo the plea:
We’ll be using the acronym P.R.A.Y. as our posture and the Lord’s Prayer as our guide:
Week 1
-
We’re kicking off Prayer Camp, exploring how prayer is more than words—it’s a way of living in relationship with God. Using the P.R.A.Y. framework and the Lord’s Prayer, we’ll learn to pause, rejoice, ask, and yield, discovering how Jesus’ prayer helps us see God, ourselves, and the world through the reality of His kingdom.
-
What is prayer? How have you been taught to pray?
When do you pray? (Just for reflection—no right or wrong answer!)
If you could ask Jesus one thing, what would it be? (The disciples asked Him how to pray!)

Week 2
-
Week 2 of Prayer Camp explores the power of the secret place. Prayer isn’t about performance—it’s about being with God. Jesus teaches us to slow down, pause, and meet with the Father in a real, honest way. Whether in a quiet room or in your heart throughout the day, the secret place is where we experience God’s presence, love, and conversation.
-
Where is a place you feel safe and happy? Could that be your secret place to talk to God?
How do you feel when someone really listens to you? Did you know God listens to you like that?
Why do you think Jesus wants us to pray from the heart, not just to be seen by others?

Week 3
-
Week 3 of Prayer Camp explores what it means to rejoice and reflect in prayer. Using the Lord’s Prayer as our guide, we focus on the power of calling God “Our Father” and honoring His holy name. Prayer is an invitation to celebrate who God is, remember His goodness, and live in awe of His love. Let’s take time to worship and thank Him together!
-
Why do you think Jesus taught us to say “Our Father” instead of just “My Father”? (Helps them see that we are a family in faith!)
What are some things you love about God?
Why do you think it’s important to remember how special God is?
How does it make you feel to know that God is like a Father to you?

Week 4
-
Week 4 of Prayer Camp focuses on asking in prayer. Jesus taught us to pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done,” inviting God’s rule and renewal into our lives and the world. Through intercession—praying on behalf of others—we step into God’s heart of love. Whether big or small, God cares about our needs, and even when answers don’t come as expected, we can trust that He is good and always at work.
-
What is something you want to ask God for today?
Who is someone you can pray for this week?
How does it feel knowing God listens to you, even when the answer isn’t what you expected?
What do you think it means to pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done”?

Week 5
-
Week 5 of Prayer Camp focuses on contemplation and listening. Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us today our daily bread,” reminding us to trust God for our daily needs—both physical and spiritual. Prayer isn’t just about speaking; it’s also about listening, creating space to hear God’s voice and receive His provision. Let’s learn to slow down, trust, and depend on Him each day.
-
What are ways God has provided for you?
What are some different ways God speaks? How do we know if it is His voice?
How important is creating space to listen to God in our lives?

Week 6
-
In Week 6 of Prayer Camp, we explore confession and reconciliation. Jesus taught us to pray, “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors,” reminding us that receiving God’s forgiveness goes hand in hand with extending it to others. Prayer is a place of honesty, healing, and restoration—where we acknowledge our need for grace and choose to walk in forgiveness and reconciliation.
-
Why do you think Jesus wants us to both receive forgiveness and forgive others? How does it help our hearts?
Can you think of a time when you needed to ask forgiveness from someone? How did it feel before and after?
How can your family practice forgiveness together? What are some ways you all can show grace to each other every day?

Week 7
-
In week 7 of Prayer Camp, we focus on spiritual warfare. Jesus taught us to pray, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one,” reminding us that prayer is a powerful weapon against darkness. Through prayer, we seek God’s strength to resist temptation, stand firm in faith, and trust in His power to protect and deliver us.
-
Why is it important to know that there is an enemy? What is the enemy trying to do to us?
What is a temptation? How does God give us a way out?
How can prayer be powerful?

Week 8
-
For our final week of Prayer Camp, we explore incarnate prayer—becoming the prayers we pray. Prayer isn’t just words; it’s a way of life. As we’ve learned to pause, rejoice, ask, and yield, we’re now called to live out our prayers—embodying God’s love, justice, and grace in the world. Let’s step into the invitation to not only pray but be the answer to prayer in our daily lives.
-
What does it mean to become our prayers?
Why is following God in obedience an important aspect of prayer?
What is a prayer that you are praying that you could be the answer for?
